Training versus Education, raises issues related to the appropriateness of each method of learning. Ideally conflict should not exist, but harmony found through resolution of differences.
The value of Education is that it enables an individual either on his or her own or within a social group, to think and make decisions.
Training implies that a set of fixed criteria can be given to people and then adopted by them for use in certain circumstances.
Children receive Education for life, adults tend to receive both Education and Vocational Training to assist them in the tasks set before them. Education can be under valued by people generally, because of its open ended nature and they feel more comfortable with a set of fixed guide lines or Training. Problematically, Training alone cannot give the breadth of understanding that Education can deliver. People also tend to believe there is only ever one solution to any problem.
